How To Prepare For A Cosmetic Surgery

Whether you are going in for a breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, or any other cosmetic surgery, you are going to need to recover. Going in for any type of cosmetic surgery should be a very long, thought-out decision, and often times it is the right decision. Often so much time is spent on thinking about the surgery and the results that not a lot of time is put into preparing yourself for the before and after of the surgery. Taking certain steps before your surgery can really help you and your doctor have a smooth surgery. Planning and preparing for the recovery can make this portion of the surgery much more enjoyable. Here are just a few tips to prepare you for the surgery and help you recover from your procedure.

Blood Thinners

Your doctor is going to give you a long list of ways to prepare for your surgery, and you had better do all of them to the exact letter of the law. One part of preparing for a surgery is to keep away from blood thinners. Everyone knows to stay away from aspirin because it is a blood thinner. However, there are natural blood thinners that many people do not know about. It is important that you stay away from natural blood thinners as well. Some common natural blood thinners include; Garlic, ginger, ginkgo, feverfew, fish oil, vitamin E, and tree ear mushroom. This is of course not an exhaustive list.

Plan A Ride Home

You are going to be nervous to go into a surgery, but one mistake that many people make is not planning for a ride home. Once again a good doctors office is going to remind you to get a ride home from the hospital. This is very important as you are going to need to get right home and start your recovery process. You will simply not be able to drive and will have to rely on someone to drive you home.

Plan Your Recovery

You may be out of commission for a few weeks. You want to have every aspect of your recovery planned out. This means that you have all of your favorite snacks and movies on hand. You should also have your loved ones around so if an emergency does occur, they are able to respond and get you the medical attention you need. Getting ready for and recovering from a surgery can be very tough, but being prepared completely will help you a great deal.
